Work at Home Journal July 13th, 2007

Ok, so I have been pretty lazy about updating my work at home journal. It seems I have had time to get some work done, but not actually keep track of what I've done. I guess that happens when you have kids and house chores to take care of too.

I've written 3 articles for Associated Content. Here's one here
Organic Foods for Your Baby?

I finally figured out my problem with NVU (umm...user error...) and downloaded some website templates from OSWD. I'm using one of the templates to set up my first niche website. I've written a few pages of content.

This first niche website is really more of an experiment. First, to see if I can figure out how to build a website with NVU, and get it uploaded to Hostgator to host. I love computers and the net, but have seriously not kept up with the knowledge it takes to build a website.

I would love to work at home and bring in thousands of $$$ a month (hmm...wouldn't we all?). But I need to be realistic too. My children aren't in daycare, and my husband works full time. I want to be a stay at home mom for a reason. So my work time is limited to naptime, and early morning or late night hours. And let's face it, I don't see myself waking up super early in the morning just to work. I'm not sure there is enough coffee in the world for that.

Because of the limited amount of hours I'm able to work, my goal is to make a few hundred a month. Projects will only take a bit longer to get finished.

Oh-and I need your help please!!!!

My blog needs a facelift. Desperately. It's bland, and looks like so many other blogger blogs.

Can someone point me in the direction to a site where I can download (preferably free, I'm working on a budget here) blogger templates?

I would like one that has 3 columns. 2 little ones on the left and a large main one on the right. Or the main one in the middle and a small column on each side?

And I'd like some graphics for my header.

Any ideas?

Hello! I wish I could help direct you to some good, free blog templates...but I'm still looking! All I've done is searched google for "free blog templates", and have been directed to many good sites. I haven't actually downloaded any because I've heard that there can be compatibility issues with some programs. One of these days I'll get around to trying one lol. Hopefully you'll find something good! For photos, your best bet is Flicker. There is an insane amount of photos on there and many of them you can use as long as you give the photographer credit. You have a great blog with some great info, I'm looking forward to reading your article about organic baby food =) Good luck with your blog!

Thank-you Beansprout!

I've never used Flicker before.

I'm looking for graphics for my header. I've thought about what I'd like it to look like, now I just need to find it. I have no artistic ability so drawing it is out of the question.
Where did you get your graphic of the plant in the cup? Did you draw that?

I found this:
http://thrbrtemplates.blogspot.com/2005/09/3-column-layout-blogger-template.html
I don't know if it's what you need (?) but perhaps it'll have links you can browse through.

I found it by Googling:
blogger templates columns

hope this helps!

Thanks abbynormal and Donna!

I stumbled upon a great blog today, and the author designs too! So hopefully within the week I'll have a new and improved blog! I've been scouring the net for templates and learn how to upload them and everything. It's just been super hard to learn how to do all of it with my little one running around.

Don't be surprised if you see a much prettier blog soon!
