How Much Do You Spend on Groceries Every Month?

When I sat down earlier this year and redid our budget I budgeted $300 a month for our family of five. That includes food, diapers, health and beauty items, toilet paper and paper towels and cleaning supplies. I thought, I'm a good couponer, surely I could do that?

I quickly realized that it wasn't going to be enough.

After a couple months of trial and error I average $450 a month, and get back about $60 in grocery rebates. Our total comes to $390 a month after rebates, which isn't too far off what I had first tried to spend.

How much do you spend a month on groceries? (include the # of people you are buying for also)

Hi
£180 ($360) for five. 2 adults, 2 adult children (20 and 17) and 1 13 year old.
It's hard but I can do it!

Wow-that's really impressive. I know it gets harder to keep the grocery budget low as your children get older (and bigger!)

glblguy,
Ok, you've got a big family, but we've got to teach you some couponing :)
I'll let you know when I find some good diaper deals.

Sheri,
Thanks! And you ROCK at the grocery game, I still haven't gotten my total that low. I think the diapers and organic meat really makes the total high.
